What is Diabetic Neuropathy?
Diabetic Neuropathy is a nerve disorder caused by high blood sugar levels. High blood sugar causes swelling and compression of the nerves, resulting in numbness, tingling and burning pain in the feet.
Here at Louetta Foot and Ankle Specialists, we are one of the few practices to offer a state-of-the-art, computerized sensory test to detect nerve damage in its earliest stages. We may use an advanced surgical procedure called peripheral nerve decompression to relieve the pain and restore sensation.
The results have been encouraging in preventing ulcerations and improving the quality of life for our diabetic patients.
