Here’s the Problem with Foot Taping
Sometimes, you’ve got a pair of shoes that you love…but they just don’t fit your feet.. That was the case for Kylie Jenner at the Met Ball. She wanted to wear this gorgeous pair of Ferragamo shoes (pictured at right) that wasn’t going to work for a night spent on her feet. Her team’s solution? Foot taping. And it worked for a while…until she tried to get those shoes off her feet. Then, disaster struck!
Why Foot Taping Doesn’t Work
When Kylie wanted to remove her shoes, they were stuck on her feet because of the foot taping! At first, this seemed like a funny challenge. But then Kylie could be seen on Instagram crying out in pain as her team tried to get those painful shoes off her feet. Eventually, they succeeded. But, in the process, they proved that this hack for making high heels comfortable isn’t exactly the ideal solution if you want a pain-free night on the town. So, what should she have done instead? Safely Making High Heels Comfortable
Instead of foot taping, our doctors in Spring and Tomball, TX have different ways to make you feel great in your high heels. First, for any shoe you purchase, try the pair on (in person) at the shoe store, after getting your feet measured. Ideally, you should shop for shoes at the end of the day, when your feet will be at their largest due to normal swelling that occurs each day. This way, your shoes are less likely to painully pinch your feet when you wear them in real life.
Next, when it comes to high heels, try to limit the heel height to two inches or less. At this height, your weight won’t be pushed forward as much onto the balls of your feet. And that can reduce foot pain after wearing high heels.
Finally, you should look for shoe styles with closed backs or straps to keep your feet from sliding around. This will reduce your risk for rubbing and blisters. And it should also eliminate the need for foot taping to keep your feet inside your shoes!
